W3 - GDD, Thomas, Technical Design

   

  Welcome everyone to a new post of our project !

First of all, this week we are glad to introduce you a new member in the Auld Alliance !


New Team member :


Hello my name is Neoptolemos Papadiofantous, you can call me Thomas or Tom for short, I am a third year Computer Games Development student. I've joined the team Auld Alliance very recently because I had some technical difficulties with my Module schedule. Now that I finally found a team am ready to provide my skills in order for us to create a fun and playful game. Some background of mine is that I used to be a professional swimmer two years ago,later on i joined the army for two years and now am trying to learn more about the  gaming industry. I started playing video games from a very young age and immediately I fell in love with them. I would say it is one of the main factors that I followed this career. Enough said about me, for today's work, the task given to me was to find information about the Technical Design from other sources on the internet and implement the Hardware and Software documentation of our game. We are still not sure about the sound what is going to be but we have a couple of small samples that will be used in the game.

Technical Design:

This week we moved onto the technical design of our game and we documented the basics of our design process of which we are using Unreal Engine 4 for the development of our game and Audacity for developing our sounds. After documenting our game design process we moved onto documenting the platform and hardware required to play the game, we have decided to develop our game primarily for Windows PC as our game genre fits the platform perfectly as well as the fact a Windows PC will be able to run our game more efficiently than any console, depending of course on the specifications of your Windows PC. Lastly we came up with the UI concept for our game which includes a menu where you can start the game, open up the instruction screen and also quit the game outright. After the menu concept we designed the UI concept for the Game screen itself which I will include a screenshot of below.

Game Design:

More about the game, this week I mostly designed the Weapon mechanics, Shield and some more Main Planet features! In the Project Auld game, in order to win you will have to create missiles and shoot them to destroy the opponent's planet ! We can see 3 types of weapons so far : Missiles, Shield Destroyers, Cripplers. But to make any serious damage to your opponent you'll have to overcome his shield and Shield Destroyers will make the most work our of it ! But missiles will have a very small chance to pass through shields and cripplers, well depending on the nation it will just cripples your opponent without doing any direct damage !
